Reading Lists from the Library's Homepage

30 days before the start of the quarter, you can access quarterly Reading Lists from the Library's homepage.


Click "Reading List"

Then choose "Find Lists" from the menu in the upper left:


Finally, search for your course by the course code.


Reading Lists in Brightspace

Once you have gained access to your course shell (5 days before the start of the quarter), the section Reading List appears as a tab at the top of the page. Clicking this link will take you directly to the list for your course:

How Do I Access Course Materials?

Accessing Reading List Materials

Reading List materials are available in one of two ways: 

  1. Materials that say "purchase from a vendor of your choosing" are not available in the CityU Library, and are the responsibility of the student.
  2. Materials digitally available through the library will be linked from the Reading List page.

Searching within Reading Lists

Search for an Author or Title

Once you are in your course's Reading List, you can navigate by section, or search for an author or title with the list. Most lists are organized with Required resources (which may need to be purchased), at the top, and then by Module. 

To search for a particular resource, follow these steps: 

1. Click on the magnifying glass icon.

2. Search for the author or title of the resource you want to find within the list. Here is an example of an author search:

Reading List Best Practices

Your reading lists offer many options for you to stay organized throughout courses. These best practices will help you organize your readings and save them for future use.

  • Refer to the list each week to see what your readings are. Look for "Required" and "Recommended" tags to help prioritize your work. 
  • Save items to your collection and tag them in order to access them in the future. Tags can include course numbers and/or topics.
  • Reading lists will automatically log you out after 60 minutes. Stay active or close the list and reopen it when needed.

  • "Like" the item to tell your instructors that you want to see more content like it.
  • Start a conversation with your instructor about the resource to give them feedback.
